For me, it was less about conversion and more about reader fatigue and being easy on readers. Also, the parts I am writing are topically delineated (for eg, in a thesis these would be different chapters), so it made sense to me to keep them separate. Plus substack's warning scared me but now I know it's fake.

It's a valid warning, but if someone has read 15minutes of content I assume they're smart enough to click once to read the rest.
